When we moved in the top banister was dark brown paneling, it rocked! I painted it, which helped a little, but we still hated it. When we redo the kitchen we are moving some things around to make room for a dish washer ( Yes, I don't have a dish washer!) so we had to rip out the awesome paneled banister, because the stove will be going in front of it.
